CCB Welcomes New Board Member General Ondra L. Berry
January 21, 2025
Today, the Cannabis Compliance Board welcomed new member Major General Ondra L. Berry, appointed by Governor Lombardo.
“I’m both excited and honored to be appointed to the Cannabis Compliance Board,” said Major General Berry. “My experience in military leadership, municipal management, and private sector operations has prepared me to address the complexities facing Nevada’s cannabis industry. I believe in fair and sensible cannabis regulation.”
With 38 years of distinguished service in the Nevada National Guard, Major General Berry served as the Adjutant General from 2019 until his retirement in 2024. Gen. Berry developed and executed plans and policies impacting more than 4,700 Nevada Army and Air National Guard personnel. He also served 25 years as an officer in the Reno Police Department, rising to the rank of assistant police chief. He left the department in 2005 to work in the private sector, including as Senior Vice President at MGM Resorts International in Las Vegas. Gen. Berry earned an undergraduate degree in secondary education from the University of Evansville and an MPA in political science from the University of Nevada, Reno.
General Berry fills the seat of Hon. Michael Douglas, who served as Chair from 2020 to 2023. The CCB thanks Justice Douglas for his service and steady hand from the Agency’s beginning to present day.
The Cannabis Compliance Board was established through Assembly Bill 533 during the 2019 legislative session and consists of five board members appointed by the Governor. Board members must have expertise in a range of fields, including finance and accounting, law enforcement, medicine, regulatory and legal compliance, and cannabis.
